Choosing
How to pick a region, honestly
The right answer depends on what constrains you most: money, distance, language or law.
If you want the deepest volume for your operation
Follow the specialty rather than the country. Living-donor transplant concentrates in Taipei and Chennai, proton therapy in Tokyo, implant dentistry in Prague and Budapest, egg donation in Barcelona, cataract surgery in Nairobi. Volume is the strongest single predictor of outcome there is.
If you cannot fly far, or cannot fly alone
Pick the nearest region with real depth in your specialty. A four-hour flight means a family member can come; a fourteen-hour one usually means you go alone, and that changes the recovery more than most people expect.
If legal recourse matters most
Europe, and inside the EU specifically — you keep EU consumer and medical-liability protections. Canada and Australia offer comparable frameworks at higher prices.
If the consultation has to be in your language
The Middle East for Arabic, Paris for French-speaking Africa, Lisbon for Portuguese-speaking Africa, Cape Town for English at a favourable rate. Consenting through an interpreter is workable, but it is not the same thing.
